Esquire magazine joins my-wardrobe.com in bid to find Britain's Best Dressed Real Man

Most recently, there has been a sort of occurring theme here at The Modern Man. Events. Yet not many come bigger than this.

Yesterday evening, leading men's magazine, Esquire, and luxury retailer, my-wardrobe, hosted an exclusive party to announce Britain's Best Dressed Real Man 2011.

Over 180 guests, including leading fashion designers, style commentators and industry bigwigs mingled at a drinks party held at the May Fair Hotel in London for a celebration of British style.

As expected, guests were given the very best of welcomes. Served with stylish cocktails, champagne and Peroni, it is safe to say they were well looked after.

The lucky winner received a prize worth £25,000, including £20,000 to spend at my-wardrobe.com, a Longines watch, a Niven & Joshua hamper, a night in a lavish suite (courtesy of the May Fair Hotel), and the chance to appear on a special-edition cover of the October issue of Esquire. The runners up didn't do too bad either, as they walked away with a Longines watch and framed picture of their Esquire photoshoot.

Who won the lucky 1st spot? The extremely dapper Dan Wood, a 22-year-old architecture student from Liverpool. In a tightly contended contest runners up were IT consultant, Shaka Maidoh, and 27-year-old bespoke consultant, Aaron Dash, both of whom are London based.

Esquire editor, Alex Bilmes, said it was Dan's "inventiveness and ability to play around with the rules of menswear" that caught the judges attention.
